Completing the Circle

Two new recruits joined our technical communication group today. These are recruited from the same department and university that I belonged to. They have the same background as I had when I was a fresher in the Technical Writing field. I showed them around our company, guided them, talked to them and helped them get oriented to a professional working atmosphere. I also explained them how we as a team function in this company. I also tried to show them the big picture and the small picture.

It was a heady feeling!

It seems as if it was just yesterday that I and two of my classmates had joined the company as wide-eyed freshers. All three of us we petrified of the IT environment whose weird and ghastly stories we had already heard from our elder siblings, friends and families.  Three years and here we are today, actually guiding, mentoring and helping others settle down in this field. The fact that they belong to my university adds to my happiness. I am happy to be a part of their learning period. Like they say– Teach once, learn twice. I am also beginning my second learning with the new joinees.

Today as I see them struggling to grasp things that have become second nature to us such as using the access cards, I am speechless. It’s like I have finally been able to complete the circle.

Have you ever experienced something like this before?
